As of July 27, 2009, Ms. Fleischer was named the new Chief of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Director of the Florida Dispute Reslution Center.
Ms. Fleischer has over 19 years of applicable dispute resolution experience and has been a certified mediator since 1990 in both circuit and county mediation.
She was appointed by the Chief Justice to the Mediator Qualifications Board (grievance body) when it was created in 1992 and served until her appointment to the DRC. She is known and respected throughout the state and nationally, as exemplified by a number of positions of leadership she has held. Serving currently as chair of the Ethics Committee of the Environmental Public Policy Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution and has served in that capacity for the last four years. She is a roster member of the United States Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution, a past board member and president of two statewide mediator organizations and was a past board member of the Society of Professionals in Conflict Resolution (SPIDR), one of the predecessor organizations of the current Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

Ms. Fleischer has published articles, written grants, developed and overseen a variety of programs and departments. She is the developer and former Director of the Institute for Community Collaboration with the South Florida Regional Planning Council, former south Florida office coordinator of the Florida Conflict Resolution Consortium and former director of the Pro Se Family Mediation Project of the Dade County Bar Association. She also has six years experience as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Miami School of Law where she taught mediation.She has most recently maintained a private consulting business in public policy mediation and facilitation, Janice M. Fleischer, J.D., d/b/a FLASH Resolutions, and will now be devoting her full-time energies to her new position and responsibilities at the Dispute Resolution Center.
