Mr. Bauer has been mediating cases for more than 25 years. His mediation practice involves business disputes, torts, personal injury, products cases, commercial, professional malpractice, contract cases, as well as environmental, probate, wrongful termination, partnership dissolutions, construction disputes, real estate matters, and discrimination cases. He often mediates matters involving multiple plaintiffs and defendants, tax issues, medicare, workers’ compensation and DES liens and issues, professional fees, and contribution, indemnity and insurance disputes.
Mr. Bauer employs various mediation skills, including facilitative, evaluative, and transformative mediation techniques, depending upon the nature and needs of the parties, counsel, dispute, law and facts. He is often requested to provide more of an evaluative mediation technique based on his years of trial and appellate experience.
Attorney Bauer has nearly 40 years of civil litigation experience. In his litigation practice, Attorney Bauer concentrates in the areas of civil rights litigation, employment litigation, and other complex civil litigation in federal and state courts and administrative agencies.
Attorney Bauer is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, AV-rated in Martindale-Hubbell, and a Member in the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. In addition, he has been chosen among The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Arbitration and Mediation and is listed by Super Lawyers in the areas of Employment and Labor, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Civil Rights/First Amendment. He has served as a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association Ethics Committee, Dispute Resolution Committee and Mentor Program.
Attorney Bauer has appeared before the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, New Hampshire Supreme Court, all New Hampshire trial courts, and New Hampshire administrative agencies. Charlie tried, briefed and argued Rumery v. Town of Newton, 480 U.S. 386 (1987), which is the seminal case on police “release-dismissal” practices in the United States.
Charlie was born and raised in Philadelphia, and in Camden and Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He was an NCAA wrestler in college, and now enjoys more leisurely activities such as gardening, travel, and LSU football.

MEDIATION LOCATIONS
Mediations can be conducted at the offices of Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, P.C., 214 North Main Street, Concord, New Hampshire or at other locations in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, or Vermont. There is no charge for round trip travel of 1 hour or less, otherwise $150.00 per hour.
