Pamela L. Reeves was confirmed by the U. S. Senate as United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Tennessee in March, 2014.
Pam Reeves is known across the state of Tennessee as a mediator, litigator, problem solver and leader. In 1997, Pam became a Rule 31 listed mediator in Tennessee, and since 2002, her practice has focused primarily on alternative dispute resolution. Pam has mediated over a thousand complex cases in Tennessee and surrounding states, including personal injury, medical malpractice, commercial, contract, real estate, employment, nursing home, product liability and other federal and state causes of action.
In 2004, Pam was admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. She has served as president of the organization since 2009 and served on the Board of Directors from 2007-2009. Pam has served as chair of the Knoxville Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and as a member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s ADR section. Pam frequently speaks at local and state ADR seminars.
Although Pam’s practice focuses on mediation and arbitration, she maintains a limited litigation practice focusing on employment, commercial and contract matters. Additionally, other attorneys frequently engage Pam to serve as an independent investigator and expert witness in discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblower claims.
Additionally, Pam has long been recognized as a leader in the legal community. She is a past-president of the Tennessee Bar Association (She was the first woman to ever serve as a TBA president). She has served as secretary of the Knoxville Bar Association, president of the Knoxville Barristers and the TBA Young Lawyers Division. Pam was elected as a national trustee of the American Inns of Court Foundation. She is currently a judge on the Tennessee Court of the Judiciary. These are just a few of the many boards, commissions and committees on which Pam has served, including five years as Chair of the Knoxville Election Commission.
Pam has been publicly recognized by her peers for her legal and leadership skills. She was the recipient of the Knoxville Bar Association’s ;vernor’s Award, the highest honor awarded by the KBA. She is listed as one of the top 100 lawyers in the State of Tennessee and on the Best Lawyers of America list from 2006-2011.
Finally, Pam has devoted much of her time to help educate other lawyers and the public through her positions as an adjunct professor at the UT College of Law and as a frequent speaker at continuing legal education events. She was a senior author of the Sixth Circuit Federal Pretrial Practice Guidelines published by Lawyer’s Cooperative.
